Cedric Lodge – Secretary and Trustee
Cedric took a BR apprenticeship in mechanical and electrical engineering from 1957 to 1965 before moving into a drawing/technical office.
In 1967 he worked as Loco Shedmaster at Goole, managing footplate and maintenance staff together with their fleet of steam locomotives.
In the late ’60s he was an engineer at Hull freightliner Terminal being responsible for the maintenance of container handling facilities, gantry cranes, container wagons, road vehicles and depot plant.
From 1971 to 1983 he was works manager at Dairycoates Depot, Hull, undertaking repair and maintenance of wagons, plant and machinery, subsequently becoming senior assistant plant engineer for Regional Railways, Birmingham, looking after trackworks and track maintenance machines.
Since 2006 he has been a volunteer fireman on the Festiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. He produced drawings for Indian Railways for the fitting of Festiniog oil firing systems to Darjeeling locos.
